History
The first Bassett's sweets were made in 1842 when George Bassett founded his confectionery company in Sheffield, England. In 1926 Bertie Bassett was introduced, rapdily becoming the friendly face of Bassett's throughout the world. Today Bertie and Bassett's still represent traditional quality, with a variety of sweets for your enjoyment.
Liquorice Allsorts were created by accident in 1899, when Charlie Thompson, a salesman for Bassett's was discussing an order with a customer. Suddenly his tray of samples was accidently knocked over, scattering the brightly coloured sweets everywhere. The mixed-up confectionery looked so appealing that an order was placed there and then. Bassett's Liquorice Allsorts was born.
